lets correct a few exaggerated facts shall we? it seems you are trying to discourage folks from buying the car by claiming one cannot do basic maintenance .( and other things .) Nothing could be further than the truth! To begin, the dealers are selling the car deeply discounted now. my brother got 10K$ off MSRP! ................................................................................Additional savings are also available by forming an LLC in Montana, licensing it there ( all can be done quickly and easily and legally online and by mail. You do not need to go to Montana! Most states will not hassle you- some will, however. And make sure your insurance co. is OK w/ it. - ours, Haggarty and Geico is. Then you would not have to pay sales tax! This can save thousands and the license plates are much cheaper too! & Any car over 10 years old can get plates that never expire for $500 ! ....................the "Extractor " you, and the video link refers to is an aftermarket electric pump you can put in a dipstick hole and suck out the oil. Yes, lazy folks can do that. I sure wouldn't!... Call me old fashioned, I'd rather unscrew a drain plug and get more of the old dirty oil out! ( And check the magnetic drain plug for metal !) Most, well many modern cars and performance cars, Like the Alfa DO have a plastic cover under the engine now It is done for aerodynamics and better gas mileage. Many more cars will have them in the future. Our 2008 Ferrari F430 has one as well! The reason car makers are doing this is you get more downforce, better aerodynamic gains from doing this- managing the airflow Under the car and you don't get the drag from wings and spoilers on top! It takes only 6 bolts to un-do on our Ferrari The Alfa seems..... similar ! ( you do not need to remove a cover under the whole car! just the engine! ) Watch some of the Alfa youtube videos! I did ! hardly difficult! Anyway, BTW an oil change is NOT $500 from a dealer! source, please? I'll check on the belt info and suspect that is not accurate either! most diagnostic codes are pretty clear and yes you can often just swap out a bad part for a new one just like we have done on our Saabs! PS the first Alfa oil change is free !
