Help- 1984 Saab 900T with total of 230,000 miles - 45,000 on complete and documented engine rebuilt (Fitzgerald's in Baton Rouge, LA). Turbo recently replaced as culprit for significant (i.e. - fog) oil burning. Start her up - run her to clear exhaust. SAME PROBLEM. No oil on sparkplugs, no oil at exhaust ports, excellent compression and engine leakdown test shows no abnormalities. New head gasket. Send the turbo back for a replacement - vendor balks (Blue Ribbon, NY), but sends another. Supply line is clean and flowing (verified cranking and filtering flow with coffee filter to catch any bearing wearing grit- none found). Return line flows great- no obstructions in sump. All filters (PCV, AIR, OIL, etc) are brand new. Start her up - SAME PROBLEM. Clearly oil seeping past bearing/seals to exhaust side and burning. Try another turbo vendor (TurboCity, CA). But first have second turbo bench tested. Oil flowing past seals- diagnosis (TurboCity's)- bearing wear/poor components/ sloppy rebuild (?). I understand a possible bad rebuild, but bearing wear in 5 minutes. How can this be with oil brand new, flowing per spec and verified clean ? THIRD turbo installed last week. SAME PROBLEM. Any ideas on what this engine is doing to these turbos ? How can the oil supply over-pressure to blow past the seals ? If that's what's happening. Any ideas and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated !! Otherwise- a good parts car is for sale (new everything, except interior). Thanks, jak3 1984 900T 230,000 miles- currently a zombie
