They are all relatively equal by the numbers, so it comes down to what you want it to do. The Golf, though it looks small, is pretty large inside, and it will carry a lot of stuff if you need it to (my friend had one...it swallowed an enormous amount). Ditto for the Saab, I think. The GS-R, I believe is a bit smaller inside. Other factors might include transmissions. I know that the GTI VR6 has (I think it still does) a cable linkage reputedly not up to the standards of the mechanical one in the GL and GTI (non-VR6). I haven't heard much about the Saab or Acura transmission. The GTI apparently tears up the autocross circuit (usually with the inside front wheel fully airborne). Supposedly, it is also quite a bit of fun to drive. Sorry the commentary is incomplete, but a friend did have the VW (non-VR6 GTI) and I don't know anyone with the other two. Ben
