I >don't understand why, but would like more information Late 97 model 900 and 9000s came from the factory with synthetic oil in the manual gearboxes. this "genuine SAAB" synthetic gear oil can be purchased through your local SAAB dealer and used in 94 and later 900s and all 9000s. you will want to drain the trans then add one qt. of synthetic, cycle through the gears, drain again, then fill with about two qts.
