Subject: Re: How reliable are Saabs?

Buy one because it's fast, practical & fun. Don't expect reliability to be above average. I'm on my third one. My 87 900 Turbo bought used was a stout car. I moved on to a new 93 9000 CSE which was trouble. It left me sitting several times. During the 3 years I owned it the compressor and the alternator both failed, and I finally traded it in after it just stopped running on day while driving. The dealer could not recreate the failure so I felt safer bailing out. I currently have a 95 900 SE Turbo purchased new. It has left me sitting once (cracked battery lead) and the entire rack-and-pinion unit has to be replaced. It also has more rattles and sqeaks than it should. So ......... even though I love to drive the Saab, I willl be thinking long and hard before I invest in another one.
