Back in the early 70's I had a Swedish friend who was an exchange student at Penn State. I had a '69 SAAB 96 DeLuxe. He had a Ford Mustang Mach I (automatic). He took it back to Sweden and remarked that he paid 9 times as much in gasoline to drive that there as I did my SAAB here. Then he traded it in on a Volvo (Taxi for 250,000 km, which looked like a new car to me) and got $3000 (equivalent) back. When I went to visit him, he showed me an article from a car magazine, in Swedish, in which this guy said the most expensive car he ever owned was a SAAB 96 and the cheapest was a Mustang Mach I. Go figure. He must have got a lemon SAAB and learned to drive before he bought the Mustang!
