Subject: Falling idle...when accelerator released abruptly From: themannopsam.com (Mr. Kotter) Date: Wed, Dec 17, 1997 9:02 PM Message-id: <3498ad1e.1428601nopsam.mindspring.com> Hi, was wondering if anyone had anything I should check before bringing my car into the shop. I've had this problem since I've bought the car and it has recently gotten worse. When I release the pedal on the gas....usually while braking...and reduce the drag on the engine...by pushing in the clutch, the car always faulters before sitting just under 1000 rpm. Seems like the idle solenoid doesn't act quick enough to keep the idle at min. Most of the time the idle picks up immediately and then all is fine. But, occasionally it will kill the car. The car is an 86 9000Turbo. Any ideas? you might want to check the throttle dash pot, a gold saucer shaped device on the throttle body, when the throttle arm touches it it should take a 3 to 4 second count till it rests at bottom, it is there so the throttle plate does not shut so abrubtly. also you may want to check the by-pass valve as well, draw on the vacuum hose to see if it has resistance. Shawn
