I had the same problem with the tachometer on my 90 SPG, it's a piece of foil on the back of the gauge that needs to be replaced. It's overheating probably because a fan needs replacing (did that too), the idle may also be affected by the fan. The rest may just be an electrical problem. go to a mechanic! jon F.
