What I've seen are two seperate "types" of auxillary lighting. Fog lights and Driving lights (not headlights). Fog lights are usually amber in color and are aimed as Duane says, LOW to illuminate the are below the fog and offer some visibility. Driving lights on the other hand have different lenses, usually clear or pearl and are designed with a wider dispersion pattern to illuminate more of the road...sidewalks etc...plus tend to illuminate signs with less a glare as improperly aimed headlights. Either way, in non-fog situations both can be quite irritating..especially when aimed incorrectly. There are grey areas in the world...not everything must be black or white. Mr. Kotter Skools in!
