as always...............year make and model please. The non-water cooled turbos (87 and prior) 150k is average. water cooled turbos (88 and later) seem to last much longer. I have seen original turbos with 250k on them. Smoke from the tailpipe and excessive turbo whine are signs of failure. expect to pay $500 to $800 for a rebuilt turbo (depending on the year of the car and where you buy)............labor additional.
