Subject: Re: Check Engine Light

I just had this problem checked out on my saab this christmas. Aparently the problem will start slowly until eventually the light will stay on indefinately. In my case it happened to be that my car DESPERATELY needed it's 95,000 mile tuneup and service, where upon my O2 sensor was checked and was still working fine. Aparently the light comes on when any condition causes the exhaust to be out of the norms. My mechanic said the problem is usually the O2 sensor, as they normally only last about 100,000 miles, but in sometimes like mine it's just that the engine is running rough and needs to be serivced. Just a warning, the 95,000 mile service at least in the NorthEast is NOT cheap.....i had three estimates all near $500. I wound up paying 480, but if your O2 sensor is shot, that's another about $125 part!!! Hope this helps somewhat.... --Chris On Tue, 20 Jan 1998 12:11:21 -0600, robert.michaudnopsamrtymutual.com wrote: >Occassionally, my check engine light flickers gently until I accelerate. >This generally is after the car is slightly warmed up but not after >running 15 or minutes.
