My son has a 1973 Saab 99. I've checked the clutch adjustment and even with the through-out arm adjusted to push the bearing up against the clutch there is not enough lever travel to engage the clutch. In other words, he pushes the pedal to the floor and the pushrod in the slave cylinder only moves a little bit, not far enough. I checked the fluid level and the reservoir was about 1/2 full. I don't think it was low enough for any air... I filled it and then loosened the bleed nipple on the slave and had him pump it a few times to flush it out. I kept the reservoir full and tightened the nipple while the peddle was down. This seemed to have no affect. I can get new parts to rebuild/replace both ends of the master/slave cylinder system from our dealer (Garry Small in Portland, OR - very helpful folks there...). Is this my next step? We need this car so I have to get right on it and get it working again. Any advice would be appreciated.
