It started a year or so after I bought it, and it sounds and acts just as you described. I believe it's a fan bearing probably going bad. I've also noticed that one of the back doors has a similar (but not quite as high pitched) noise, and it turns out that the back doors have little fans in them to circulate air -- probably the same problem. I haven't done any investigation into what it would take to fix it, but usually those things require a lot of work to remove all the panels to get to it. Just my guesses anyway... Russell
