For the US market, other markets are totally different and I am not sure of them, the 8 valve was last seen in the base model 88 900. The first 16V was in the 85 900 Turbo, That year both the 900S aand 900 base were 8 V. In 86, the 900S got the 16V, but the 900 base stayed 8v until 89. In 91, the 900S got the 2.1L 16V.
