I've received much help from all you SAAB owners when I posted about an EDU display problem. Makes me feel real glad I got a SAAB. Well, there are many small questions that I've got. Nothing major, but something I wanna look into. First a litte about my SAAB. It's a 1987 9000S. It's got a little over 120,000miles on it. I've only owned it for one month. So far, I'm very pleased. Now, to my questions. 1) Chapaman Alarm System I have a Chapman alarm system installed I found in the car. There is a small black box with one of those circular key locks underneath the the driver side of the dash. The previous owner has no idea where the key went. Would anybody know if this is a factory installed system? Anybody have any suggestions as to how I can get a key or get it working? 2) Oil leak I never noticed this before, but the car leaks some oily substance. I assume it's engine oil. I've checked engine and trans oil. They both seem fine. The good thing is it appears to be a VERY slow leak. Anybody know of any common leakage spots from the engine? 3) Speedometer Ok, this is kinda stupid. But when I'm stopped, the needle stops at 5MPH. Now, does it mean I have to subtract 5MPH from the actual readings while driving? 4) AC I bought the SAAB in the middle of winter. And since the 9000S comes with automatic climate control, I have no way of finding out if the AC works without bringing it into the dealer. If I set it to low, I don't know if the cool air is from the cold outside air or from the AC unit. Any ideas or am I stuck waiting til warmer weather? 5) EDU Okay, now that I've just replaced the bulbs for the EDU, exactly what does everything mean? Is the large number to the left MPG? What is that long bar that goes up and down? Is there any other information I can get out of this display? Sorry for all these questiong, but I never got manuals for the car. The previous owner didn't give too many things that should have been there. Any help would be great. Thanks VERY MUCH in advance. BTW, if anybody needs help replacing instrument light in a '87 9000S or similar model, e-mail me and I can forward the great e-mail that have been sent to me. A great time saver instead of figuring out everything yourself. Dennis Urbana, IL SDG
