I have an 87 9000 S. If the 89 9000 is similar, the drain plug is located on the bottom of the radiator. When I had my coolant flushed, that is where the mechanic found it. It is small, and he had to use a long pair of needle nose pliers to grip and turn the plug. I hope this helps. Ken Washington 87 9000 S
