Subject: Cyclical Droning on '90 900 T

I purchased a '90 900 turbo last November with about 100K miles, and although it needed a few maintenance items, it was basically very sound and passed a 40-point inspection with flying colors. However, there is one overriding thing that is still left that puzzles me. The previous owner replaced the pinion bearings at about 60K which I understand usually affects 4th and 5th gear with a whining noise. I've got a noise only in 5th at about 60 mph and up that sounds like a cyclical drone. My mechanic suggested removing the AC belt as a test, but this didn't yield anything. I can feel a slight vibration along with the drone, even on the gas pedal. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your feedback. Mike Z.
