Subject: Re: the Saab "Hibernate Button"

I have a '95 900SET with the ACC. The "recirculate" setting does a good job of keeping out skunkaroma and tunnel exhaust, etc, and is also a bit of a "hibernate" setting like you described. Turning the ACC completely off also keeps out the outside air, and is even more of a hibernate setting. Fortunately, there are visual indications for both settings on the ACC screen. My main beef is that it is impossible to simply get fresh outside air in my car. Its always heated or cooled and filtered, which makes it feel/smell "processed". When I'm on a long drive, I want cold air blowing at my face, and with the AC on, it just doesn't feel right. Especially in the winter, when I'd prefer warm air on my feet and cold air on my face. Opening the windows or sunroof is the only solution, with the resultant noise and whatnot. In general, I loathe the ACC. Its "defogging" program works fairly well, but otherwise, it doesn't do what I want it to. You apparently woke up some latent hostility in me about this! :-) -Roger Roger Gonzalez Datapult Communications arghnopsampult.com http://datapult.com/
