If the dealer is not a regular Saab dealer, I would insist on having the car checked out by a good indepedent Saab technician. You don't mention the year. The car could be a trade or the dealer could have picked it up at auction. I bought an 87 9000S this past December for $3400. The car had 145,890. Some new spark plugs, a couple of belts, a rear muffler and friend of mine cleaned the throttle plate and reset the idle, and the car runs like a dream. Mine is a 5 spd. I am leery of Saabs with autos. I'm leery of automatic transmissions period. Check www.kbb.com to see what the blue book is. You might also want to ask this same question on the www.saabnet.com bulletin board. Good Luck. Ken W.
