Sorry to follow up my post - I've just put my 9000 through its 108000 mile
service + MOT at Ballards - their labour rate is now 65 GBP per hour which
is well above what SAAB City charged at the stage I decided they were
REALLY poor value for money, so I shudder to think what they charge now.
Ballards give me 10% off parts and 15% off labour for my '91 9000 so the
pain is not quite so great as it might be. The total bill (the only extras
were cleaning the front brake pads and sorting out the sticking sunroof)
came to GBP328 which I suspect will shock many on both sides of the pond.
I'd be interested to hear what labour rates are at other SAAB dealers
around the UK, not just London, as I pointed out that a few years ago the
saving from using an authorised dealer in the country could pretty much pay
for an overnight stay - I imagine that still holds true.
