Dennis, You and I bought our 87 9000s about the same time. I got mine the end of December with a 145,890 on it. Check your vaccum lines and make sure your throttle plate is clean, if you haven't done that all ready. The other thing I suggest is putting in large bottle of the Pro Guard Techron Clean-up, or a 16 oz. can of the Berryman B-12 Chemtool. Take your car out for about a 100 mile run, and it should settle down. I use mid-grade Amoco in mine. I average 27 to just over 28 mpg around town. I tried a half a tank of Ultimate and my gas mileage dropped to 23.94, so it is mid-grade for me. I put a can of Berryman's in about once a month to keep the fuel system clean and take care of any moisture in the gas. I hope this helps. My 87 9000S is a 5 spd. I just went over 150,000 two days ago. I can't help you with the wiper motor. Maybe someone at the www.saabnet.com Bulletin Board can. Ken Washington 87 9000S
