Subject: What fits?

Hello SAAB drivers. I have a 1987 1/2 9000 Turbo ( electronic speedometer, water cooled turbo unit, upgraded brakes, no ABS thank you very much). I purchased the original SAAB factory maintenance manuals when I picked up the car brand new in Gothenburg, and I do most of my own maintenance. Those manuals are excellent! But I'm straying off topic, when I purchased my SAAB I was wealthy (no wife and 3 kids) and now I'm not quite so wealthy. My SAAB is getting a little long in the tooth, the nearest dealer is 300+ kilometers away, and I can't afford to pay some dude $80 an hour to work on it....I want to buy a parts car. What I would like to know is, will parts from an '88 or an '89 fit? I want the engine and associated electronics to be the same, Bosch LH fuel injection ETC...My old beast still runs strong, 212,000 K's and will still do 235K/hr at the drop of a hat. But nothing lasts forever, I've read the timing chain/transmission horror stories and want some cheap insurance in the form of a parts donor car! Thanks in advance for any replies, sorry so longwinded......
