If your tranny has oil in it, you should have 10w-30 or 10w-40. That is straight out of the owners manuals from my 83 900 T and my 87 900S. The Haynes manual for the 9000 from 1985 to 1995 says the same thing. I don't know how or why people have to do things different. I used nothing but 10w-30, primarily Castrol GTX in the five speed of my 83 900T for over 13 years. The original transmission had over 251,000 miles on it, when I had to take the car to salvage, thanks to a 30 mph hit from a 2 and half ton GMC truck. I never had one problem with that transmission. All I did was change the oil every 15,000 to 20,000 miles. No I did not baby the car. I picked it up in Europe. You don't drive from SHAPE, Belgium to Frankfurt, Germany in 2 and half hours, babying a Saab. Ken Washington 87 9000S
