Even my Haynes Manual does say 12,000 miles (20,000km) or 12 months, whichever comes first for the 9000 models, but there is a caveat. It depends on the type of driving or service on your car. If all you do is cruise the highways, you might be able to get by with the minimum recommendations. If you do stop and go driving, make short runs, do any towing or like to drive the hell out of your Saab, this severe service and requires shorter intervals. U.S. manual for 87 900 models recommends 7500 mile intervals for oil and filter changes, but under severe service and for the turbo models the interval is 3750 miles. If you drive a turbo, it's always severe. Ken Washington 87 9000S 87 900S 83 900T
