Is it neccessary >to change synthetic oil more often? I ran some oil analysis on my Volvo turbo (which recommended 3500 mile drains) and found the oil suitable for continued use after 11,000 miles (no filter change, no oil added). Using AMSOIL, I figured a 10,000 mile drain was fine. My 85 900T was previously owned by a friend who used the 10K drains, too. Now has just about 180,000 miles on it. If you are using AMSOIL or Mobil 1, you shouldn't have any problem using the 20,000 mile drain. I'd suggest a filter change at six months/10,000 km. Oil is cheap. Keep in mind that the oil change intervals are set at the factory, based on the European oil specs--much more stringent than US specs. If you have any questions, take a sample and have it analyzed to find out for sure. Dick in Falls Church, VA Using and selling AMSOIL (First in Synthetics) over 20 years
