Can't help with adjustment, but I can tell you my method of finding 5th on my 85 900T. On mine the gate is in a "strange" location, real close to third and quite a ways from reverse. I push the clutch in, push gearshift full right in the neutral zone and then hold up/left to find the gate. Process probably takes 3 seconds with clutch depressed, but that is O.K., fifth is overdrive which I only use when cruising above 60 MPH. If I try to stab directly from fourth, I invariably catch third with a screaming engine. Glenn
