Subject: Re: SAAB depreciation? / Reliability of late models

I sold an Acura to buy my '89 Saab Turbo Convertible. This was only recently, and I've shelled out additional dollars to fix all the things that come up in a car with 135,000 miles. I feel pretty confident that Saab will not turn out to be the company that Honda was. They may have a certain amount of Panache, but they don't have =461 calibre engineering, the power-to-weight ratio, and they don't have quite the value of a Honda, nor, almost certainly, the build quality and reliability. I'd have kept my Acura forever, but it had a top. In the meantime, I don't feel as though I bought a bad car, just one that is not on the same level in value and reliability as the very very best. I'd do it all over again. I would not, however pay a new car price unless I were a millionaire, and while almost all new car companies are over-pricing their cars, Saabs are one of the worst in this arena.
