Actually, I did the same thing the first time. My battery died in the parking lot of the local SAM's Club so I just went in and got a new one. Later when I was in my dealer for service I mentioned the battery episode to my salesperson. He told me to bring in the receipt and they (the dealer - Keenan SAAB) would reimburse me (which they did). So, you might ask your dealer if they have such a policy. I would assume that your car would have to be under warranty to get your money back.
