Nothing, repeat nothings seems to work (on the >9000 I even used non Saab parts, got new rotors and it still squeeled). >> ANybody have any problems with 96 900SE brakes!! The dealer tried and gave up. New pads (twice), turned rotors, then said it was normal for asbestos free pads (which is bullsh*t) - I have two other cars that have asbestos free semi metallic pads and they are silent. I suggested they give me a new car off the lot which didn't squeal. This was loud enough, BTW, to be heard in the car over the stereo. The Saab area rep was arrogant and RUDE about it. I ended up paying for one set of the Saab pads in desperation, which didn't help. So I bought some soft metal adhesive backed pad shims, they sell them at GI Joes, I'm sure Trak or another place like that would have them. The material itself is made by 3M. Heat resistant of course. You remove the pads and cut the material to shape and it fits on the back of the pads against the piston. The goo (both the stuff that soaks into the pads and the stuff that goes on the back of the pads) didn't work. FWI this was on my REAR brakes on my 95 900SE. No noises since, and the brakes work fine. Also note that Saab changed the FRONT pads on the 96 year to be quieter, they will fit the '95 cars. This new part should be supplied if you ask for pads for a 95 model year. Glenn
