Subject: '87 900 wiper problem

I've got an '87 Saab 900. The other day, the driver side wiper stopped working. Turns out the 'wiper transmission', a sort of D-shaped pulley, worked its way off the shaft that connects to the wiper. Neither the end of the wiper shaft nor the inside of the transmission seems terribly worn, but I can't get the transmission to stick on the end of the shaft for more than 50 wipes or so. Can anyone advise me as to what's supposed to make this thing stay on in the first place? Thanks! Caleb Strockbine calebnopsamlgraphsoft.com
