I had a Passat 1,9 tdi for the last three years - and would not buy VW again in the moment. So I tried the new saab 9-3 tid (not available in US), which is teh best diesel I ever tried, but ordered teh 9-3 2,0 turbo which realy seems to be the best choice of all this cars! The internal place is not so spacy like in the passat (especially the 95/96 modells), but this is the right car to compare. the 9-5 is much more like the Audi A6 (even German Newspapers compare them - and the get simmilar results), but i'd prefer the 9-5 turbo - better power with better feeling in a safer car!
