100,000 miles is hardly anything to complain about. If you want to make it last better then drain the standard cheap n' nasty gearbox oil Saab puts in and replace it with synthetic gearbox oil available from your Saab dealer (drain it thoroughly as the 2 oils aren't compatible). If and when you change the gearbox in your Saab you'll never get a new one for 1800 from Saab - only a reconditioned one. Fixing the old one can be cheaper depending on the fault and the competence of your mechanic. NB. Saab went over to synthetic gearbox oil in all its manual gearboxes in 1997.
