I think your dealer gave you bad advice. Though the "need" may not be as critical with water-cooled bearings, you still run a very real risk of blocking the oil lines when the oil is turned into solid carbon ("coking") from the heat of a heat-soaked turbine unit. I use synthetic oil to greatly reduce the risk of coking, and use a cooldown at idle before every shutdown -- 10 seconds minimum under ANY conditions, and 60 seconds or so if immediately after a hard run (e.g., stopping at a freeway rest stop). I treat my '82 and my '98 the same. --------------------- John R.
