Subject: Lumbar support in 900s

I bought a 1996 900S about six months ago and, although overall I love the car, I haven't been able to get used to the lumbar support in the driver's seat. (The seats are cloth, with manual controls.) Even in the off position, it protrudes too much, and it's too high on my back by several inches. (I'm a little under 5' 8" tall.) I've remedied that somewhat by raising the seat bottom as much as possible with the lever on the side and also by tilting the seat back a little bit more forward than I would like. But there's still too much lumbar for me. Is the lumbar support something the dealer can (fairly easily) remove? And, if so, is it an easy, relatively inexpensive procedure that will leave the seat back feeling comfortable? I'm scheduled to bring the car in for its 30,000 mile checkup and fine-tuning on Monday and I'm wondering whether to ask them to give it a try. They didn't seem to be too sure about what to do when I mentioned it several months ago. Any suggestions are appreciated. Tom
