My wife has an 86 900 Turbo that was running hot, temp gauge nearly maxed out, for two years. We too replaced the water pump and termostat, twice. The closed shop we could find who would work on Saabs kept telling up the radiator was fine, that we must've installed the wrong water pump or the wrong thermostat. Apparently some shops don't install the proper two stage thermostat. I found that diagnosis odd since this same shop replaced the thermostat once before! We insisted the radiatior was bad, they said it was fine. Two years this went on (don't ask why!). Finally, we went to a different shop specializing is Saabs, 80 miles from our home, who finally replaced the radiator. Problem solved..... nt wrote: > I recently bought a 1989 Saab 900S from a friend of mine who was letting > this car sit and collect dust because of a blown head gasket.
