Subject: Re: Synth. oil

Since we're on the topic of oil, can someone provide the correct size of the Oil Drain Plug? SAAB claims 13.5mm, 6 point. I assume they mean 1.5 length shaft also. I'm not a mechanic, but I've changed oil in my cars for years. I've now stripped the head on the plug twice in a row. The first time I thought it was just plain careless, this time it appears that using a 12 point 14 mm socket did it, but that was the smallest socket I had that would fit--I was trying to be careful. Maybe it was just carelessness the 2nd time too. Is there a unique tool available to make sure my "carelessness" doesn't happen again? I use Mobil 1 5W30 here in Virginia, used Castrol for a while. Good gas mileage, no known problems. MY 95 SAAB is 3 years old, 40,000 miles and looks like it just came off the lot. Never had a car hold up this well. You can respond via Email, if you prefer. In the meantime, it's back to the dealer to undo the damage I've done.
