Subject: 1985-1988 turbocharger

Hello! I'm about to start some major repairs on my '88 900T. It's an automatic, but I've found a donor car with a good 5-speed manual, which I will be using to convert it to a stickshift. My turbocharger is also leaking oil from the seals, and I was wondering if I would be able to use the other car's turbo as a replacement? The problem is that the donor car is a 1985 900T, and mine is 1988, which means mine has the water-cooled system. Did they change the turbocharger itself much when they introduced the intercooler? My common sense says they must have, but I figured I'd ask here in case there's anyone out there who knows better :) Thanks! -Brendan Dunn, bdunnnopsam.edu
