Subject: '90 900T: Advice wanted on tires and exhaust

Saabers, It's time to replace two of my tires. The car currently has Dunlop D60 A2's size 195/60/15. First of all, I noticed in the owner's manual that the original size was 185/55/15. My assumption is that my current size provides an advantage in handling at some sacrifice in ride. I'm willing to sacrifice some of the ride if I can keep the great handling I'm getting out of these tires. Does anyone have any recommendations for tires that are pretty sticky that also ride well. Probably these two things are not compatible. I've always heard good things about Yokohamas, and I've also had Bridgestone Potenzas in the past that I've been happy with. Then again, I know what works for one car may not necessarily be good for another car. I've been told that the baffles in my muffler are shot, which is probably why it's been much more audible lately. Someone recently posted that he switched to a free-flow exhaust to counteract the turbo lag. For those of you using after market exhausts on type 1 900's, have you noticed an improvement with turbo lag around town? Also, how much louder is your system than stock? I'm willing to accept some volume increase, but not a lot. As I age, it seems that I have less tolerance for higher decibels. If you've found something good, what's the brand and how much? Thanks in advance for your help. Happy Saabing, Mike Z.
