Have only driven the 4 auto, so I can't comment on comparisons between the different configurations, but IMHO the 4 is *not* "4 cylindery". Smooth, quiet, and powerful. It really amazed me, I *never* intended to get a four cylinder car, but here I am. As Craig wrote, go take it for a drive. You'll be surprised. Especially if you want a 5-speed, the 4 will probably be fine for you.
