I'm considering buying a late-model (95-96) 900 S or SE convertible. A couple of the cars I've looked at had a similar problem with the top mechanism. One of the Saab dealers said that the half-dozen or so motors that raise and lower the top sometimes "get out of sync" and have to be adjusted to get the top working again. What I'm wondering is 1) how common is this problem (I saw it on two of the six cars I looked at), and 2) is it expensive to fix (the dealer said it involved a coupe of hours of labor, but no parts needed to be replaced)? I'd be less inclined to buy a convertible if the top has to be "adjusted" every year or so at a cost of $200.
