Subject: 5 spd trans pinion bearing case

I own a 1983 900S 5spd. 3dr. SAAB. I was driving it and it felt like it was dragging. I park on a hill and it would not roll backwards in gear unless I let the clutch out, then it would jump. I removed the diff cover and I think the Pinion bearing case is broken. The pinion moves and the bearing. Is this worth fixing or should I try for a used trans instead.
