For hydraulic purpose one could use water and the brakes would work as well. After a short time the pistons will rust solid to the cylinders though, that is the problem with water. The problem with high temperature is that it will cause the accumulated moisture (water) in the brake fluid to boil and form gas in the system. Gas (water vapour) is compressible and will cause the brakes to fail. MH ('78 95 '79 96)
