Yes, definetely use synthetic oil and make sure you use either a SAAB oil filter or some other high quality filter not that Fram rubbish. > 2) Is it difficult to drain, flush (where appropriate) and fill the power > steering and gearbox (manual) oils, and coolant? Never done the power steering, so I am surprised it needs oil change. However your brake fluid may need changing, not to difficult. Coolant change easy, there is a drain valve on bottom of radiator, don't forget to open blead valve at top of engine. Gearbox oil should last the life of the gearbox. Again this is easy the drain plug is the one in the middle of the bottom of the gearbox casing, the engine oil being the one towards the front on the left of my 900T16 (don't know about 8v). Buy a workshop manual like the Haynes one's. All of this stuff is covered in there. > 3) On previous cars I've owned, people have suggested aftermarket gear > oils (like Redline MTL) for better shifting, etc etc. Would this also be > a good idea for the Saab, since they recommend engine oil for the gearbox? I have thought about doing this myself, I have heard however that MTL will not last as long as conventional 10-40 in the gearbox and may need changing every 40K miles or so. > Thanks! > > Jim Causey > > -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own
