Hello, I am (as of last night) the proud owner of an 84 900 Turbo with 160,000 miles. I already really like the car quite a bit, and I want to do some of the work it needs myself. The mechanic who did the pre-purchase inspection noted that just about all the fluids except the engine oil itself were dirty or worn out, so this seemed like a good place to start. I had a few questions that I'd be curious to hear people's opinions on: 1) Since this car has a turbocharger, would synthetic oil be a good idea? 2) Is it difficult to drain, flush (where appropriate) and fill the power steering and gearbox (manual) oils, and coolant? 3) On previous cars I've owned, people have suggested aftermarket gear oils (like Redline MTL) for better shifting, etc etc. Would this also be a good idea for the Saab, since they recommend engine oil for the gearbox? Thanks! Jim Causey
