From what I understand the main argument against Fram filters is not their filtering ability, per se, but that they don't flow as well as the Mann/OEM filters... there is a noticable pressure loss on the output of the filter, which could cause damage to the turbo among other things. Generally speaking, the Mann filters are the best. Volvo also makes a very good filter. The nice thing to check for on the filter is the presence of a check valve on one side - its design it to help keep oil pressure oil even after the engine has turned off, so oil does not seep out of the head and the turbo. -Justin
