Sam, I would not be surprised if you find out the plug wires that came with the car are due for a change...Even if the wires were OEM, they may have been old and ready to go....The one's on my 87 900S were like that...When I put on the Jacobs, there was a definite difference on the plus side...I was using Bosch Platinum plugs with mine and had no problems....Now I have an 87 9000S 16V, just like the 87 900S, and I have no problems with this one either.
