Subject: Ghost in the machine... err, memory seats

Have to try this again, maybe someone is reading this time who knows what's going on. I have a 97 900 se turbo (red). Very cool car, my wife drives it mostly. So memory seat position no. 1 is set to her liking. Position No. 2 is set to my liking, considerably different than hers, as I can hardly fit in the car in her setting. What started happening about 2 months ago is wierd - instead of moving smoothly back to my setting, the seat now jerks, taking about 6 jerks to get to my position. And even wierder, when I turn off the car, and take the key out, the seat moves back, smoothly this time, to the No. 1 position. More wierdness? If I open the door before turning off the car and removing the key, the seat stays in place until the car gets unlocked the next time. Then it moves. Are there ghosts involved, or is there a real reason this is happening?
