I've got the exactly same problem in my '90 900. I was just going to go down to the local wreckers and grab a couple of T-connectors off wrecks. Haven't gotten around to it yet. Currently I have just replaced the T with a generic T-connector with no valve. With the T without the valve in it, the water now runs from the reservoir and slowly drips out the headlight sprayers.
