If the answer to 1 is 'yes' and the answer to 2 is 'no', then your clutch pedal may be breaking at the top of the pedal. Come to think of it, this may only relate to RHD cars which use a pedal shaft to transfer the movement to the LHD Hydraulic cylinders. Does the last line make sense?
