"Thoroughly" is a vague term. :) I've "always" (that would be twice :) driven 1000 miles and drained again. I figure three tanks of gas is enough. Dick here on the newsgroup says a day or so... he's probably right and a day is probably adequate. > When I recently converted my '94 900, I only drove the car for > 15 minutes or so, switching gears frequently, before re-draining > and re-filling. Is this sufficient? Maybe.... > Why is this so? What is the negative effect? What ends up happening is that the tranny fluid and oil won't mix, and you end up with improper lubrication. Wear results and your tranny doesn't last as long. You are ALWAYS best draining and refilling at least twice, driving in between, to make sure you get all the old stuff out. -Justin
